Laura & Stuart’s Gorse Hill Spring Microwedding

Just a few days after restrictions were eased, (I was definitely starting to sweat) Laura and Stuart’s postponed wedding date at Gorse Hill arrived. And it was a great day for it. The weather was forecast for rain all week, but when the day arrived we had beautiful beaming sunshine. Considering the change in weather, the staff at Gorse Hill were SO accommodating. They quickly made arrangements to set up the tables for afternoon tea outside – but were also ready to move it back in, just in case.

The Main Event

The restrictions at the time were for just 15 guests, so it was a super intimate microwedding with just close family present. With such a tight guest list, Laura and Stuart had Alex from Wessex Sounds Hire rig up the place to live stream to friends and fam back home. And all I can say, is I’m sorry to the people that had to watch the back of my head.

Stuart gathered with his family outdoors before they took their seats in the ceremony room while Laura made her arrival. And it was one serious arrival at that. Pulling up to Gorse Hill hotel, in her dad’s red Ferrari to be exact. Iconic.

As soon as Laura got to the altar, tears started flowing. Laura’s crying, Stuart’s crying, Laura’s mum’s crying, it’s all happening in here. After a super emotional ceremony, I led the guests out on to the patio, and co-ordinated them into the perfect confetti throwing lines (all comes in the package, kids), and they welcomed The Hanveys with a flurry of petals.  They cut their cake – with the world’s cutest dino cake toppers, and the drinks began to flow.

As everyone sipped their champagne, I saw my opportunity to kidnap Laura and Stuart for their couple sessions. Now as usual, they gave me the whole ‘we don’t know what we’re doing, you need to guide us’ thing. And as ready as I was to do that, like hell did they need it. As I stole them away into the Gorse Hill gardens, they were SICKENINGLY in love. But they’d also had practice before from their engagement shoot, the cheaters. We spent 15 minutes snapping our way around the gardens and then headed back to the main party so they could have a seat with their guests.

All in all, it was a beaut Gorse Hill wedding. A gorgeous sunny day, with the loveliest intimate guest list. Who could need more of a reason to have a microwedding? Laura and Stuart’s words

We cannot recommend Jodie highly enough! Before, during and after our wedding she was a complete delight to deal with, as well as being very knowledgeable and professional. Getting married during Covid times naturally meant we had a few changes and surprises along the way. We had to change date and venue but Jodie was kind and accommodating throughout making the planning process much less stressful.

Jodie made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera on our wedding day. So grateful for her suggesting a pre wedding shoot as it made us feel even more relaxed and excited about having the wedding photos taken!

On our actual wedding day Jodie was simply brilliant. All our guests commented on how lovely she was . You can tell from our candid shots how at ease she made everyone feel. One person has commented “you can feel the happiness in these photos” and we totally agree!

No stuffy poses, the photos are all so natural – simply pure joy and happiness coming through. Jodie has captured our day beyond perfectly – its just magic! All the little details have been beautifully captured as well, like the cake and favours . We honestly can’t stop looking at all the photos! Even though we had a microwedding during Covid times Jodie still went above and beyond to give us the best photo memories of the day and we can’t thank her enough!
