Bride and groom walk through a flurry of biodegradable paper confetti outside Square Club, Bristol

Spring Square Club Bristol Wedding

Spring weddings in Bristol have a very specific kind of energy. Longer days, chic city vibes, and just enough warmth to make being outside actually enjoyable. Clare & Phil’s Square Club Bristol wedding in May leaned fully into that feeling, with relaxed styling, seasonal florals and a day that flowed naturally from start to finish.

Bridal prep in a light and airy city apartment

The morning started just around the corner from the venue, with Clare’s bridal prep in a beautiful, light-filled apartment. Big windows, pale walls and soft spring light made it an ideal space to get ready without ever feeling rushed or crowded.

From a practical point of view, being so close to the venue made the morning feel noticeably calmer. No long travel times, no logistics stress, just an easy walk when it was time to head over.

Getting married at Square Club

The Square Club is one of those venues that works brilliantly if you want everything in one place without it feeling repetitive. Ceremony, reception, drinks and dancing all flowed through the space seamlessly, which kept the energy up and the schedule stress-free.

The ceremony itself was intimate and full of emotion (with a couple of interruptions from a little person), with the confetti moment immediately afterwards. It was unreal. If you know me, you know how much I love biodegradable paper confetti, just because it photographs SO beautifully. It takes longer to fall than petals so flutters around for longer, making for AMAZING confetti shots. Soft spring light, movement everywhere, and photos that genuinely felt alive rather than staged.

Turning the room around for dinner

After the ceremony, guests moved outside while the team transformed the room for the wedding breakfast. Long tables replaced the ceremony layout, dressed simply with single bud vases filled with spring wildflowers.

One of my favourite details was the hand-painted candles created during the hen do. They added a personal, slightly imperfect charm that worked beautifully with the relaxed styling and made the tables feel completely unique.

While this was happening, guests enjoyed drinks in the gardens out the back and down in the cellar bar. From a planning perspective, this is one of the reasons the Square Club works so well. There are multiple spaces, so transitions happen quietly without anyone feeling like they are waiting around.

Keeping the decor minimal allowed the room to do the heavy lifting. The gorgeous brick walls, the beautiful mirror all became a part of the styling. Spring wildflowers, natural light and thoughtful details were more than enough.

Golden hour couple photos at Brandon Hill

Because the sunset was so late, we waited until after dinner and speeches (that fully made me cry) to head out for couple photos, and it was absolutely worth it.

We took a short walk up Brandon Hill, where the evening light was soft and gentle. I also massively exposed how unfit I was, because that is a BIG hill. The other fab thing about a city wedding is that everyone is also automatically your No.1 fan. Clare & Phil got so many congratulations and ‘you look incredible’ from everyone relaxing on the grass and the vibes were immaculate. Especially in the sunglasses-and-bridal-denim-jacket combo.

It also gave Clare & Phil a quiet moment to breathe together before heading back into the party.

Back to the cellar bar for dancing

Within half an hour we were back in the wedding, and it was straight back down into the bar for the first dance and the start of the party. A live band filled the space, the energy shifted instantly, and the rest of the night unfolded exactly how you would hope it would.

There is something about ending the day in a lower-lit, intimate space that makes everything feel a little more electric. No big productions, just great music, packed dance floors and people fully present.

A relaxed Square Club Bristol wedding from start to finish

This wedding was a perfect example of how well the Square Club Bristol works for couples who want a laid-back, city-centre celebration with personality. Keeping everything close, leaning into the season and choosing meaningful details made the day feel effortless and genuinely personal.
