When I received my invite for Maddie & Will’s wedding, it was covered in Zebras and the dress code was ‘Autumn Chic’. I knew it was going to be a good one. Held at The Bell in Ticehurst, it was a big autumnal party. Before the wedding they told me that they wanted to remember being a part of the fun with everyone, and from the photos, that was definitely the case.
DIY decorations and autumnal touches
I had never seen so many pumpkins in my life. Everywhere I looked, there were dozens of the things. Paired with beautiful floral arrangements from The Art Bunch, pinecones that Maddie and Will had spent weeks gathering, and cute cuddly maple leaves. It was an absolute beauty. The venue itself is already cosy and quirky, which complimented the pair’s theme perfectly.
Maddie looked stunning. She wore the incredible Cintra dress gorgeous dress by Anna Kara from White Lace and Butterflies. It was paired with some beaut – yet comfy – chunky blue heels. In her hair she had a custom hair clip from The Art Bunch to match her flowers, expertly styled by Tea and Trim. Her bridesmaids were both of her sisters, who wore mismatched dresses from David’s Bridal. The three of them were an autumnal vision.
Upstairs waiting, was Will and his best man, Remi the dog. Will looked dapper in his mix and match outfit while Remi looked BEAUTIFUL in his rust coloured harness. A true autumn chic king.
Their ceremony was full of emotion, and yet mega relaxed. They had a friend perform their ceremony, with the story of how they met, readings from other friends and some good, old fashioned audience participation. People were laughing, people were crying, and Remi just wanted some attention. (for more celebrant-led wedding inspo, check out Chloe & Bryson’s London wedding!)
The Bell know how to throw a damn good party
After the ceremony, we all head downstairs to the bar, to be greeted by a saxophonist playing Jungle Boogie. Iconic. We did the confetti walk down the long banquet table, as per tradition at The Bell (which is also terrifying going backwards in heels, just FYI) and then got the Prosecco flowing. It was soon time for dinner, and the ceremony room had been turned around into a stunning banquet hall. Following the seat arrangement, written out on handmade leaves, we found our places, held by little gold woodland creatures. We all immediately began trading, I was willing to fight someone for a raccoon.
After dinner, it was time for the speeches. Everybody gathered around the long table as Maddie and Will made their way onto it for their joint speech. It was excellent and from the photos, kinda looked like they were having a rap battle. Followed by Maddie’s dad and two sisters, the speeches finished and we head back upstairs to really get the party started. There’s not much I can say about their first dance, except that Will’s knees have got some MOVES.

“Jodie is guaranteed to be a professional, fun, creative part of your wedding. She made us feel at ease during couple shots on the day, and worked with our preference to have a mix of candid and portrait photos to take away. We’ve loved looking back at all the details she captured before everyone arrived, and the photos of everyone smiling and having a good time. The locations she scouted out at our wedding venue to act as the backdrop for our couple photos were just perfect. Everyone has said how amazing our wedding photos are, and we agree!” Maddie & Will
