Sarah & Cam’s Devon Festival Wedding

This summer, after two years of waiting, Sarah and Cameron finally got to have their gorgeous festival themed wedding day. They had their ceremony at Cadhay House, a stunning Exeter wedding venue. It’s a Tudor manor house just outside Ottery St Mary, in Devon.

Both the bridal party and the groomsmen were getting ready in different parts of the house. This meant I could nip between both rooms as everyone was getting all done up, super handy. While everyone was getting ready, their families were helping get set up outside ready for their outdoor garden ceremony. Their old Nissan Micra was also getting a make-over, complete with tin cans on strings and a bottle of champagne sat waiting in the back. 

Back in the house, Sarah was ready to go, with a gorgeous two-piece outfit consisting of a Charlie Brear skirt and Theia bridal top. She had also styled it with a gorgeous braided bun done by her maid of honour. All of her bridesmaids wore dresses from ASOS, they were mismatched but complimented each other beautifully.

Meanwhile, in with the boys, Cam had gotten into his electric blue corduroy suit, with a pale yellow linen shirt and bright red socks – who said that the groom’s clothing choices can never be interesting?

Stunning intimate garden ceremony

Once everyone was ready, we headed down to the garden ready for their super intimate ceremony. Cam waited at the top of the aisle with their young son and his best man. As Sarah walked down the aisle with her dad and bridesmaids, tears started flowing left, right and centre. After a super sweet poetry reading from one of Cam’s groomsmen and band mates (who also wore the coolest suit), and their mega emotional vows, they were at long last married. 

As soon as the ceremony was over, the heavens opened and huddled under a tree while they sipped prosecco. Once the rain let up, we smashed out the confetti walk and group shots so I could steal Sarah & Cam away for some couple portraits before we moved over to the reception venue. Cadhay has such beautiful gardens, we couldn’t not take advantage. Even their little boy Rex wanted to get involved, with his very enthusiastic “CHEESE”.

Once we were done, we strolled over to the front of Cadhay House to give the couple their send off, complete with their jazzed up Micra as a surprise. We all head over to their wedding reception location – Sarah’s parents’ field. It had gorgeous countryside views and even another field next door for everyone to camp in at the end of the night for full festival vibes.

Festival Tipi Wedding Reception

The tipi was decorated beautifully. There was palette signage, fairy lights, wildflower arrangements and a stage set up for the evening entertainment. They also had a kids’ tipi with garden games and a drinks tent filled with barrels of local beer. There were hay bales and blankets for people to sit on and a fire pit with a marshmallow roasting stand next to it. They had a friend’s band play an acoustic set as their reception guests arrived before they sat down for their wedding breakfast by Lyme Bay Field Kitchen. After dinner were the speeches but once again,  little Rex stole the limelight by yelling “CHEESE” again.

There were plenty of thank-yous to go around, with all the DIY efforts various people had gone to. Their cake made by Sarah’s sister, the flowers grown by Sarah’s mum and family friends were running the bar for the night. It was a proper DIY festival wedding setup.

Once the speeches were done, the tent was re-arranged ready for the evening party. For the first dance, a friend played an acoustic version of ‘Toothpaste Kisses’. But then their DJ cut in over the top. They sprung into an incredible surprise choreographed dance to ‘Yes Sir I Can Boogie’. And when I say it’s the best first dance I’ve ever seen, I really really mean it. Shortly after, they had a folk band come and play on stage and the dancefloor was filled ready to party the night away. A proper festival wedding.
