Georgie & Joe’s Discoball Houchins Wedding

Groom whispers in bride's ear infront of the house at Houchins Wedding Venue

On a glorious summer’s day, Georgie and Joe got married at their super stylish but laid back wedding at Houchins Wedding Venue with discoballs and monochrome styling. DREAMY.

Chic Monochrome Wedding Party Outfits

One of my favourite types of wedding couples are the ones that come PREPARED. On arrival they passed me all their outfit details, including their monochrome stationery AND things for me to style my flatlay with.  In the house, it was all go in the prep room, with all the girls getting ready. Georgie’s bridesmaids wore black satin slip dresses, which looked SO chic against Georgie’s dress. The vibe was simple but chic, with the bridesmaids styling their dresses with glam ponytails and simple white flowers. Georgie looked stunning in her Allure Bridal dress and veil over a slick bun with pearls. God I love pearls at a wedding.

Over in the barn, the boys were looking dapper but laid back in their linen jackets and no ties. It was a HOT day, so the boys definitely looked more comfortable than they could have been. We don’t need any groomsmen passing out on a 30 degree day….

Emotional Wedding Ceremony at Houchins Wedding Venue

The ceremony was set up beautifully in the marquee, with simple florals, candles and discoballs. Everyone was emotional before the ceremony even began, but the tears really started flowing as the bridal party made their way down the aisle. After some emotional readings,  including some nods to Biffy Clyro, Georgie & Joe were married. Walking out the marquee for a confetti tunnel of white petals, the fun was ready to begin.

We smashed out the group photos as early as we could so everyone could relax, so naturally, I ended up on the roof (#justphotographerthings). Once the family portraits were done, we moved onto the wedding party ones. While family group photos can often be quite formal and sound pretty boring, your wedding party can be where you spice things up. As long as everyone’s down for a bit of fun and potentially making a bit of a prat of themselves, you’ll get some really good photos. Which is exactly what we did here.

Beer Pong, Coffee Van and a Temporary Tattoo Station

When it came to personalising their Essex wedding, Georgie & Joe had it DOWN. They had a beer pong table set up, a selfie mirror, a temporary tattoo flash station and a coffee van. But this wasn’t an ordinary coffee van. An iced coffee in that heat was a godsend, and it even had little personalised stickers on it for the full effect. Everything was so thought out, that they’d even prepared a selection of sunglasses for their couple photos. That’s the kind of dedication I love.

After the drinks reception, everyone headed inside. They had decorated the room with more monochrome – candles, discoballs and flowers everywhere, it looked beautiful. Each of the speeches were completely different and special in their own way. Georgie’s sister had a Love Actually poster style speech, while Joe’s best man had written a poem all about him.

Edgy Evening Couple Photos around Houchins Wedding Venue

Once the dinner was done and it had cooled down outside, it was time for some couple photos. The great thing about Houchins Wedding Venue is that there’s SO much variety in the space. We started with a walk over by the pond to the swing. You can’t NOT get a photo on a swing. All the gardens are so beautiful, that there were so many photo opportunities and SO many bushes for me to put them in. Once we’d finished, we headed over to the more ‘farmy’ side round the back. Georgie & Joe are just one of those COOL couples, where everything they do is just a vibe.

Once we got back to the venue, it was time to cut the cake. STACKS of donuts filled the rest of the table, so they only had a small cake. Because who doesn’t love donuts? It was one of the hottest days of the year, but everyone was READY to get on that dancefloor – with even more sunglasses.
